Adult Voice Rehabilitation

Adult Voice Therapy Treatment

At Montessori Speech, we offer specialized voice therapy for adults experiencing voice challenges due to overuse, strain, injury, or neurological conditions. Whether you're a teacher, singer, public speaker, or someone who simply feels that their voice no longer works the way it used to, we're here to help you recover, strengthen, and regain confidence in your voice.

Who we help:

We provide voice therapy for adults who may be experiencing:

  • Hoarseness, breathiness, or vocal fatigue

  • Muscle tension dysphonia

  • Vocal nodules or polyps (with ENT diagnosis)

  • Voice loss or changes following illness or surgery

  • Vocal strain from high-demand professions (teachers, call center workers, clergy, etc.)

  • Parkinson’s or neurological voice changes

  • Vocal Paralysis

What to expect:

Voice therapy begins with:

  • A detailed case history and voice assessment

  • Acoustic and perceptual voice analysis (teletherapy-compatible)

  • A personalized treatment plan targeting your vocal goals

  • Techniques that may include resonant voice therapy, vocal hygiene education, semi-occluded vocal tract exercises, and more

Singing Voice Rehabilitation:

We work with:

  • Professional and semi-professional singers (opera, musical theatre, contemporary, rock/pop)

  • Worship leaders and choral singers

  • Voice-over artists and actors

  • Performers recovering from illness, overuse, or vocal injury

  • Singers who notice changes in pitch control, range, breath support, or vocal quality

  • Teachers and coaches who use singing in professional contexts

Why We're Different:

Briona Daugherty, MS, CCC-SLP, is not only a licensed speech-language pathologist, but also a classically trained opera, musical theatre, and rock vocalist. With over a decade of vocal performance experience, she understands the demands placed on the singing voice and brings that perspective into every session.

Therapy and training are customized based on your vocal goals, medical history, and stylistic needs.

What to Expect:

  • Detailed voice history and vocal use profile

  • Acoustic analysis of pitch, range, and vocal quality

  • Singing-specific voice exercises tailored to your genre

  • Techniques drawn from both vocal pedagogy and voice therapy

  • Tools for recovery, vocal stamina, and healthy singing habits

We collaborate with ENTs, vocal coaches, and other professionals when needed to support your full vocal recovery.
